1. Understanding Cookies vs. Local Browser Storage
To ensure clarity, we distinguish between traditional HTTP cookies and client-side browser storage:
- HTTP Cookies: Small key-value strings stored in your browser that are transmitted in HTTP request headers to web servers or authorized service providers.
- Browser Local Storage (`localStorage`): A client-side data store within your browser that persists locally on your device. LocalStorage data is not transmitted automatically in network request headers during browsing.
2. Privacy-First Consent Architecture (Consent Mode v2)
LifeMode implements Google Consent Mode v2 with a strict Basic Consent configuration:
- Default Denied State: When you first arrive at LifeMode, all optional analytics and advertising signals (
analytics_storage,ad_storage,ad_user_data, andad_personalization) default strictly todeniedbefore any scripts run. - Zero Tracking Without Explicit Consent: Google Analytics tags are not loaded and zero analytics pings or cookies are generated until you explicitly select Accept All or enable Analytics & Measurement in your preferences.
- Zero Third-Party Advertising Tags: LifeMode does not currently deploy behavioral advertising networks, tracking pixels, or third-party ad tags.
- CMP Clarification: LifeMode provides a custom lightweight Consent Mode v2 interface to manage reader choices. It is not an IAB TCF registered or Google-certified CMP.
3. Essential & Functional Browser Storage (Always Active)
These storage items are strictly necessary for the technical operation of the website and interactive editorial utilities. They do not track individual personal identity and cannot be switched off:
| Key / Identifier | Type | Provider | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|---|
lifemode_consent_v2 | LocalStorage | LifeMode (1st-party) | Stores your cookie and analytics consent preferences to prevent re-prompting on every page visit. | Persistent (until cleared) |
lifemode-checklist-* | LocalStorage | LifeMode (1st-party) | Saves completed task checkboxes in interactive printable checklists directly on your device. | Persistent (until cleared) |
__cf_bm | HTTP Cookie | Cloudflare (CDN) | If set by the configured Cloudflare security service, it may help identify automated bot traffic. | Provider-configured; not confirmed here |
5. Marketing & Behavioral Advertising Disclosure
LifeMode does not deploy advertising tracking cookies, retargeting pixels, or behavioral ad scripts. While our consent interface provides a granular Marketing toggle for standard Google Consent Mode v2 signal management, granting marketing consent will not trigger any advertising integrations.
6. How to Manage or Withdraw Your Consent
You retain full control over your privacy choices. You can change your preferences or withdraw consent at any time:
Manage On-Site Preferences
Click the button below (or use the “Cookie Settings” link in the website footer) to open your preferences dialog:
Note: Withdrawing analytics consent takes effect immediately for future browsing, disables tracking pings via browser opt-out controls, and removes existing analytics cookies. Consent withdrawal applies to ongoing and future data collection and cannot retroactively delete previously transmitted anonymized metrics.
Managing Cookies in Your Web Browser
You can also configure your web browser to block cookies or alert you when cookies are placed:
